My computer success story: born 1968 in Munich, Germany I began my computer career at school in the age of 12. These days were pictured by home computers
like Sinclairs ZX81 with the proud amout of 1 kB RAM and Commodore’s C64. My first self-developed “business system” was a school administration program, written on a “WANG 2200” machine with no floppy or hard disc but a pretty
good working music cassette storage with direct (not only sequential) access possibility. In the age of 16 I was already a member of the “BS2000 youth computer club”, sponsored by Siemens Munich and working with the
professional mainframe operating system BS2000. I got my professional IT education during 2.5 years as a trainee at a company, where I was occupied with practical tasks and also at a college to get the theoretical knowledge.
When I had finished that in 1987, I registered as a self-employed the same year at the age of 19. Parallel to my regular project work, I went to evening school and later on to university as a guest student and also trained
myself in countless hours.
